(HOW TO) PROCRASTINATE ON THE REMAINS OF A VISA APPLICATION PAPERS

Materials: Visa application documents, Thread, Found clips, Recycled envelope
(Letterpress print)
---------- ABOUT

"(how to) procrastinate on the remains of a visa application papers" is made out of whatever paper was remained of my application to obtain an entry visa as an Iranian student in the UK. Other wasted materials such as found clips or an envelope that my mom sent from where I lived in Iran to where I was living in Edinburgh was incorporated later. In the quest for a 'waste-free' ink, I began to work with letterpress print, which could resemble the stamps used in my visa application and the mailed envelope. Also, the amount of time that the handmade process of letterpress print required could compensate for the usual amount of paper wasted in a digital printing process.

--------- PROCESS

A conflict drove the process. The clash of doing an art program focusing on environmental issues and printing twenty copies of an image and throwing them away for just one of its projects. The conflict of living in the new ‘conscious’ country whose people fly around to partake in Environmental strikes.

Aesthetically gathered wasted papers was the initial idea.

The wasted papers were papers from my visa application that was relatively abundant in my place [over 80 pages], all blank on one-side as officially required. I started to think about trash as not just objects but rather structures, orders, and time processes.
